As soon as I heard that pop superstar Mariah Carey secretly recorded a grunge album in the mid-'90s, I immediately got inspired to create my own personal take on this unlikely combination of genres. Carey's 1993 single "Dreamlover" and Pearl Jam's 1992 single "Even Flow" work so well together that I didn't even need to modify their keys!
Carey's record label is said to have refused to release her grunge album, because it conflicted with her carefully cultivated image and sound. But now that she has more wealth and influence, she plans to release the album herself in the near future.
Let's not forget that En Vogue experimented with hard rock on "Free Your Mind", and it worked out pretty well for them, wouldn't you say?
Anyway, here's a list of all the songs I used:
Pearl Jam - Even Flow
Mariah Carey - Dreamlover
Mariah Carey - Shake It Off
Daft Punk - One More Time
Tears for Fears - Break It Down Again ("Worldbuilder" Soundmark)
