It's been a bit. Work, COVID and bad relationships have taken a chunk of my mixing time away. Kept trying to finish this but things got in the way. I've finally got around to finishing it, 6 months later.
While the name "L80's Choice" suggests these tracks are all from the 80's, some of them overlap into the earlier parts of the 90's. Just like my name, you should never judge a book by it's cover. At least I've stuck to the "ladies" part of the mix as it consists of all female artists of the time. Even threw in a bit of soundbites from the era that some of you may catch on to. I also incorporated a new style of Mashup, the "duet".
This isn't your "run-of-the-mill" dance mix that seems to be the only kind I find when searching 80's mix but more in the style of a mixtape. Sure, there are dance hits on here but there's tracks from all genres, too. It's more of a showcase of what these ladies blessed us with in that golden decade. If you need a break from today's overpolished, auto-tuned, sub-par music with no chance of "classic" status or just want to travel back to a time where things weren't so polarizing and politics were kept to a minimum, this mix is for you. Let these women sing out songs that take you back to a specific time. A time of fun and expression where "cancel culture" was as real as Garbage Pail Kids. A time when your parents had to yell at you to "get IN the house!!!" 'cause it was time for the whole family to have dinner, together, as a family. Where phones had "tails" and was a privilege. A time when music was anticipated and not forced upon or gamified. You appreciated songs a lot more then and it showed with the artistry and soul that came from these tracks, unlike the "filler" we have today in pop music.
