One of those hidden gems that blows your mind when hearing it again after 31 years. It's that crazy pitched vocal sample that perks your ears up, the funky guitar & horns hooks you and the catchy as hell chorus locks you in. I played this for my friends and bet them $20 if they could give me the artists name. No one could but they sure as hell knew this banger. Most of them turned into dancing goobers, myself included. I would consider this as the quintessential pop track. Maybe not of all time but for the 90's, this takes top spot. There's actually 2 versions of this track. The first was released in '91 when the group had 5 members. It was re-released in '93 with 4 members and a punchier sound.
I decided to make a 2 min. "teaser" intro to really let this track build, slowly adding the elements without giving up the defining elements so you would just be stuck in that "Hey, I think I heard this before" feeling before going straight in to the first verse. I moved the crazy pitched vocal sample to after the first chorus and extended the second with background vocals. I also made a whole new breakdown and buildup before going back into the original ending.
Hope this brings back memories and takes you back to simpler times when things weren't so divisive and just appreciated for what it was.
