When Bootie announced its open call for submissions to 2010s night, I didn't have the best idea of what I wanted to do until word came out that Cbat went viral as part of a meme.
After finding out that Madeon trolled his audience by playing it as a random request, I realized that it's possible to get a similar effect in mashup form. So I got to work on a mashup that changes the drop melody to something unexpected but catchy enough to be its own remix. Modern extraction tools make this process more accessible.
Turn Down For What happened to be of the most well-known 2010s EDM track to do it with, and as a bonus, both Turn Down For What and Cbat are 2010s tracks as well.
