Just another Megamix of your favorite 80's cuts, or is it? I wanted to stand out from the rest by going back to the era and mixing in that style. I also used all the extended mixes and dubs that I've collected since that time to create longer, full length tracks. Back then, I would cherish those bootleg mashup CD's you'd get at swap meets with all your favorites, continuously mixed, at a racers pace. I mimicked that style with one change. I kept the full songs intact. I've also really took the time to flesh out the transitions. Anyone DJ can put two songs together. It's HOW you do so that separates you from the rest. I got really experimental and tried a lot of tricks for transitions. Even transitions that involve different BPMs without changing tempos to match each other. You hear this in the transition between Cutting Crew and Glass Tiger.
Here's a little "Behind The Scenes" secret. This is an old mix I made that I've re-edited. It was originally over 2 hours long so I couldn't upload the whole thing without sacrificing sound quality. I also lost the DAW layout for it which means I'd have to start from scratch to do it again. I did manage to find a rough draft of the mix. It's sound levels were all over the place and there were a few mistakes I came across. This mix is basically a salvaged cut of the original. The one regret I have is that I couldn't remove the "Once In A Lifetime" vocal from the "Walking On Sunshine" break. I remember wanting to use the acapella later in the mix and guess I forgot to delete the sample. At least it's on beat but it sticks out like a sore thumb, to me. It sucks but it made me realize that I could go back and do it better than before, in vol. 2.
