No real theme here, just a collection of Mashups I've done in the last year. Slowed down a bit with a busier work schedule and a bit of burnout but I think I've improved in track variety and pitch matching. I've come to terms with needing a "perfect" acapella and started using more filter tricks to integrate subpar ones into the mix. It's not like I'll get the original artist to perform the vocal again and I'm not making stacks with these mixes so It is what it is. I've also tackled a lot more challenging tracks with un-syncopated beats. Took on some firsts like mixing a local Hawaiian track with a new beat and vibe and a Mashup that I and a few others have pondered as to what it would sound like. That Mashup would be putting Eddie Moneys' "Take Me Home Tonight" over the original "Be My Baby" by The Ronnettes. I went with the approach of the producer doubting the famous drum intro and talking down on it before starting the track with the background vocals instead. I also used the original recording session of takes 1-33 as a sample base. The drum beat used in my Mashup is just a warmup but it's one of the best and beats out the original, IMO.
