Happy 2023! Had to start the year with a banger and this track truly is. I've actually done this Re-Edit before. you could probably find it here if you searched for it. I was really unsatisfied with that version and that grating feeling finally got to me. I went and got a clean copy of the Shep Pettibone Remix but was disappointed that it was different from the US version that I love. It's a few BPMs faster and pitched up a bit. The backbone of this Re-Edit uses the Shep Remix but I slowed and pitched it to match the US Version. I also managed to make a pretty clean acapella from the US version. This track is just filled with catchy melodies and fills that it could be broken down into 5 or so different hits by themselves. It's so catchy that I didn't realize until I reached the first verse that I was already over 2 minutes in. Not much songs I know that can do a long intro and still keep you hooked. Maybe Flock of Seagulls "I Ran" or "Eminence Front" by The Who. I also added the ending bridge to the intro because I love that part and hate waiting for it to come. Took the liberty to create my own break after the first chorus using the funky break that came at the end of the original and added some vocal samples to fill. It isn't studio quality but really, I don't think I could get anything clearer save for Mike singing it for me. Extended the second break where the bassline carries the groove to the end and brought back my custom break after that chorus with another custom outro with vocals and my favorite line and life mantra, "Making mistakes is a part of life's imperfections" with a sudden fading loop to end it. My thought process for that was that I never want this song to end so it's more like a "cliffhanger." I can finally put this backburner mix to rest now that I'm happy that there's a extended version that covers everything I love about this song and group.
